Low level sound when using VST
When playing a piano score with a VST the general sound level is very low compared to MU default's "basic" soundfont, all other settings being equal (around 12dB lower!!).
Besides this, the export in Flac, Ogg and Wav with the VST are full of crackles. Not the export with the "basic" soundfont.
Any way to remediate to this ?
The VST used are VSL-Free Soft Imperial, and Spitfire Autograph Grand

I am using PianoTeq's Classical Guitar VST and the dB level seen in the mixer is the same as when using MS Basic's Nylon Guitar.
The PianoTeq output shows more dynamic contrast but overall they are hitting the same peaks at the same time.
Is there a volume level in your VSTs which could be used to compensate for the difference?
PianoTeq have a free trial of their VST which you could roadtest for comparison. There are no strings attached to the trial, no dodgy payment traps to be wary of. It only plays for 20 minutes at a time and some note pitches are not included.

Well indeed. I guess I tested with two low-level VST. Because even maximising their output I could not compensate their weakness. No output issue with the Pianoteq one.
I remains the crackle in the export with the two sample-based VST...

Very odd. Did PianoTeq export OK? It has been fine in my experience.
